Vocal Workshop Weekend – 2 & 3 July 2016

Proudly sponsored by Country Arts WA the South West Opera Company will host a Vocal Workshop and Masterclass for our SWOClets and senior SWOC Members.

This event – with an emphasis on our younger performers – will be facilitated by Marilyn Phillips. Many people will know Marilyn as a guest adjudicator for the Bunbury Eisteddfod but Marilyn is also an elected Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, was a nominee for a WA Citizen of the Year Award, and in 2000 was awarded the Prime Minister’s Centenary Medal for services to Australian opera.

Marilyn continues to broadcast on ABC Classic FM, and has supervised master classes in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney, where she was an Invited Artist in Residence at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Marilyn’s experience with many aspects of the voice, have given her unparalleled insights into the joys of singing. She has worked tirelessly to bring an understanding and love of music to the wider Australian audience, with lively corporate performances and presentations, contributions to Art Song Perth, the hugely popular ‘Big Sing’ in Perth Concert Hall, the continuing FunSing! As well as pre-concert talks for WASO and the Australian Chamber.

The workshop will be held over the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd July 2016.

The South West Opera Company is grateful to Country Arts WA whose support has made this event possible which will be a highly valued, educational and fun vocal learning experience for our junior Company members.
